I love visiting Toronto. Maybe this is my 10th visit? I'm not really sure. We were riding the streetcar yesterday to the AGO, and as it was filling up with people at each stop, I was struck with how different this trip is from our Yukon adventure in September. For obvious reasons. I'm certain the population of 'Little Portugal' alone exceeds that of Whitehorse. There is no real quiet here, yet you could be sitting in a crammed subway car and really not be more alone. Everyone is plugged into their devices, eyes glued to screens, or eyes closed while listening and mouthing the words to a favourite song. It's not better or worse here in Toronto, it's just very different.
I met with the owner of a gallery here, shortly after arriving, that is interested in carrying my work. My paintings in Toronto! Whoa!
I'm heading to Ottawa on Sunday and kind of wishing I had brought my oil paints as well as my watercolors, but sometimes it's good for my creative muscles to limit the supply of things to make art with. The weather is pretty decent for painting outside. But it's just as decent for drawing, too.
It's nice to be back in this concrete maze. Hello from Toronto!
