Suddenly we are in December! How did that happen? November ended with a harrowing road trip. I was headed to Red Deer to drop off paintings at Gallery IS and the Kerry Wood Nature Center, when I drove INTO a snowstorm. Too dangerous to pull over, no way to turn around...so there was nothing to do but continue on nice and slow. Of course, my appointment to get winter tires was for the NEXT day. Oh well. Me, the paintings and my dog made it safely to and from Red Deer. Winter, you do know how to make an entrance.
The last couple of months have been so focused on getting "Due South" up and running that now that it's up, I'm kind of at a loss for what to do. But no worries! There are ALWAYS things to work on, and partake in. As such, I'm going to start something new with the blog. I've been working on this little series of paintings called "One-a-days", and have been thinking I will start featuring them here, complete with a little explanation. So that means there will be a new blog entry everyday! The painting above is from a picture I took on a winter walk in the woods behind Bower Mall, when I lived in Red Deer.
As for other creative goings-on, there is the show at the Kerry Wood Nature Center-which is now up-in addition to having 8 pieces in the Gallery IS Christmas miniature show! So much going on. Handmade gifts are the best, but then I'm a bit biased in THAT area.
I hope your nestling into the beginnings of the holiday season with a little bit of child-like anticipation...and making time to do something creative for yourself as well.
Take care of your brushes,
