i'll take a snow day....heavy on the snow, please!

Apparently there have been 128 collisions in Edmonton today since 6am. You'd think we were all from Florida and had never encountered snow. I am typing this safely from my perch on the couch in the living room with the drapes open so I can watch it come down.

It was an unexpected snow day. I'm very thankful for it. It allowed me some extra time in the studio to think and plan and get some pieces started. Two commissions and the first of the little 8" x 10" paintings for Christmas. Tension mounts when I don't make time to spend in the studio....and I've been very negligent with that lately. But no more! Thank you snow weather! You saved me from creative laziness. I don't know what it is about hunkering down in your house and working on projects on a snowy day. It's easier to concentrate somehow.

On Thursday Nov 29 at the Roxy Theater here in Edmonton from 4-9pm there is going to be a Christmas Market. I'll be there with some of my paintings, so if you are in Edmonton....come and say hello!

Lastly, I'm hosting a fun open bid on my facebook fanpage for one of my animal paintings. This one:

they might be lion, mixed media on birch panel, 12" x 16"

It's a chance for you to get a cool painting for cheaper. There is no set increment on the bid. If raise the last bid by $1....that's cool. I started the bid at $30 and last I checked it was up to $90. If you like this painting and are interested in bidding, here is what you need to do:

1. go to Facebook and 'like' my fanpage (Justina Smith) if you don't, already.

2. on the wall, find this picture (it's a post or two down) and leave your bid in the comments attached to the picture (so I don't have to hunt for them).

3. bidding closes on Friday November 9 @ 10:30pm. Final bid won't include shipping costs. If you live in Edmonton, I will meet up with you and deliver it in person.

PLEASE DON'T LEAVE YOUR BID ON AS A COMMENT ON THIS BLOG POST. The comments on my site have been riddled with phishing spam as of late. There are so many, they are all being trashed so I won't see your bid.

Hooray for snow days!
