My real job is painting, and my more social job is as a barista at Transcend Coffee here in Edmonton. I work primarily at the location we call 'Argyll' because of it's one-off proximity to Argyll road. I enjoy this job for a number of reasons:
1. i am a coffee addict
2. i enjoy crafting espresso beverages, chatting with customers and getting others excited about delicious coffee
3. my bosses let me hang my art work in the cafe
4. it's a social hub! i get to talk to people about my favorite things; art & coffee. there are so many ideas exchanged between customers and myself, and amongst my co-workers.
The lovely lady who manages our cafes told me about Society6 one day. Then I plagued my co-worker and friend Joel Verhagen (who is the stellar chap that set up this here nifty new website for me!) to show me how to resize my photos properly so I could submit some of my work to Society6. And now; I have a small shop where you can get a select few pieces printed onto a variety of useful things.
I'm pretty excited about this, as I can submit drawings and whatnot to be printed onto t-shirts and hoodies as well. I'm not going to go crazy with this however; meaning I'm not putting all of my art work on here. My intention is to paint and draw things specifically to add to my shop and I can take the art work off there when I wish. I thought it would be a fun thing to try for a year or so. Also you can get things printed onto mugs and clocks. I like that the things my art work has the potential to be printed on will have some use to them.
Also, feel free to suggest any pieces YOU might like to see me submit to Society6. I've painted a lot and sometimes it's easy to overlook a piece in my archive that might look really stellar printed onto something.
