It snowed in Edmonton in March. Shocking I know. We were all fairly certain winter was done and some of us were foolishly putting away some of our winter gear and contemplating taking off the snow tires and putting on the all seasons and then 10cm of snow falls lightly from the sky. Hooray! Do you know what this means?! That it's still totally kosher to paint winter scenes! So that is what I spent the majority of my studio day working on.
'tree shadows I'
acrylic on canvas, 9" x 12"
This is from a photo taken near the old brick school on 76 ave just a few blocks from where I live. It was taken earlier last winter. I love the long shadows cast by the low winter sun and I'm still having fun using lots of red in my palette. I think this marks enough productivity for one Friday however. Time for some shenanigans and beer!
