It's been a great Sunday. Family dinner commences shortly, I just finished up the album artwork for Karyn Ellis's soon-to-be-released album "More Than A Hero", was contacted by a gallery in Jasper about creating a series of paintings to sell in their gallery, and am having fun working on a project of my own. The palette for this piece was inspired by a co-worker of mine who made an off-handed comment that he'd like to see what I could do in black and white. This piece is not really black and white. There is bits of colored paper, red on the neon sign, paynes grey and titanium buff for the sky and white, titanium buff (a warm off-white) and black for the building.
I'm still playing around with it. There are some highlights, shadows and detail that need a bit more defining, but I figured I'd share with you what I have so far....just so you didn't think I was slacking off or anything.
I've no details on the release date of Karyn's new album yet, so I best wait until I do to show you what I painted for her. I'm pretty proud of it though! One of the neatest projects I've worked on to date. Hopefully it leads to more album art work creation/collaboration.
The sunbeams are calling, so we best get those crazy dogs of ours harnessed and head out and jump in some puddles. Happy Easter friends!
