painting so far for "Fly"... acrylic on canvas (paper airplanes not included!)

It's awesome getting paid to do what you love! Yesterday I sold another painting...and it still excites me and makes me grin from ear to ear. The painting was purchased by this awesome couple who have already bought four OTHER paintings from me earlier this month. Oh how I love repeat customers...and oh how I hope for a tea invite so I can see where these paintings will be housed...

Yes, I'm fishing for an invite!

It was the last of the paintings that doesn't really have a personal connection. It was from a photo I saw in the Globe & Mail in the travel section...about the beauty and mystery of Croatia. A lovely photo of a tiered village...layers of roofs and windows and corners that disappeared and re-emerged somewhere else. I've never been to Croatia, but it was such a striking photo that I wanted to try and paint it. I did...and had it hanging in my living room for a bit...had it in a few galleries and no bites, but last nite the right buyer spotted it. *sigh* It's like matching up friends for a date and then watching it blossom into a long term relationship...

Anyhow, that has nothing to do with the painting I posted that I'm working on...which is not finished yet. Sometimes it helps taking a photo or stepping away from it for a bit...so I can refresh the ideas when it's lacking direction. I like how it looks so far...the colors are VERY striking. This is the beginning of the painting from the sketch "Fly" that I posted on here a while ago. FINALLY there is time to work on it...and I had some ideas...and now...just contemplating how to finish it. Hmmm... Maybe if I wash the dishes that are cluttering the counter...it will help me think.
