Time in the studio got off to a slow start today, but quickly became one of those delightful sessions where the ideas flow quick and concise. Each time I stepped back from the canvas to get a better look at how it was coming along, my heart gave little leaps of excitement. This can be a bit of a precarious time, prepping for shows. I tend to get anxious and then my mind gets too ahead of what I'm doing and then I can get overwhelmed and stressed. All this before I even start. But these pieces will take as long as they take, like any task; making dinner, going for a run, going to yoga, training a puppy. Some days these things will come easily and some days you'll have to wrestle and juggle to get things done, and some days I'll whisper 'fuck it!' under my breath and sit down and knit something or hide in a book instead. If I plod along steadily and don't think too much about the amount of things needing to get done, somehow they just get done, in their own sweet time. I forget this often.
So here is my start of getting things done; the 'things' being new work for the shows I'm hanging this year. The list of these is over under the 'exhibits' section, and as new things get booked, I'll add their dates and locations. I'm excited to make a '2015' section for this site. Three days into the New Year, and so far, so good. I'm just a tad under-caffeinated. Time for tea.
Plod on, friends.
