strange bedfellows's been near a month since my last post. There is a reason for that. Sort of. I took August and September off from painting. Kind of. Rather, I took August and September off from other people's projects so I had time to work on my own. I got some things done that I wanted, and some things are still in the queue waiting to be worked on. I spent some time with friends. Took more photos. Walked dogs. Ran more. Did more yoga. Cooked more. Finished reading some books, and started reading some new ones. Applied for some shows and painted a paintings too. Now it's October and it's time to start commissions, so of course I get a wicked cold. Fan-freaking-tastic. This past weekend was supposed to be a nice meander down to Maycroft for some mountain-and-deck time with a dear friend, but my body had other plans. I caught the bearded dude's cold cooties and last weekend in my month off was more-or-less spent in bed. There is only so much napping a girl can do, but this foolish cold sapped most of my I brought the studio to the bedroom. Or parts of it, and rekindled my love of drawing in bed.

I also found out that FOR SURE I am creating album art work for Karyn Ellis's new album "More Than a Hero". She's got a little interview with me on her blog. That's going to be my project for November! You can read about that here:

On September 27th I hung a little show at the Camrose Public Library which is up until Christmas. There are 11 pieces in the show, and 3 of them are brand new! It's a nice little collection of mixed media pieces. This one is my favorite from the show:

sunflowers & crates (roncesvalles, toronto)

mixed media on canvas, 20" x 20"

I can't believe it's October already. Soon there will be snow on the ground....but not before I get the little front bed tidied up. I hope. There's always something to do around here. Like....plan out a fun miniature series of animal paintings in vintage hockey sweaters? Like t-shirt designs? Yea....things like that!

Happy October, friends! Stay crafty.
