Last night I was working in the studio and posted a peek of this piece on my Instagram account. The picture showing the detail of the sign (on the left side of the painting) was the one I shared. I was really stuck for what to name the piece, until a few friends left a comment about loving the 'fine print'.
Sometimes you name a large painting based on your favorite detail. Thank goodness for clever friends!
Speaking of Toronto, I head back tomorrow for a few days. A break will be nice. I'm bringing my sketchbook and my grey scale markers, some clothes, long johns, a headlamp (in case the power goes out in my Aunt's apartment) and my knitting project to work on during my flight there and back. I'm tired and excited and just about finished painting all my favorite alleyway photos from my last visit. Edmonton, you need more graffiti alleys!
I hung this piece this morning at Transcend Argyll. It's happily living on the yellow wall above the comfy chairs opposite the bar.
