December! There is a rested, undecorated Douglas Fir now residing in our living room and the house smells like a mountain forest because of it. The studio is about to be partially dismantled and loaded into the car for the first of two pop-up markets I'm in this month; and the last shows of the year for me! Then knitting and resting and making a dent in the stack of books I bought at the AGO during my most recent visit to Toronto last month. I usually make some foolish statement to myself like ,'I'm not going to paint at all during Christmas break! I'm going to take a break from the studio....for real this time!!' But I never stick to it. I go on a walk and see something and get home and want to paint it. Why fight it?
This is a little series I was working on the past couple of weeks (along with commissions) specifically for this weekend's pop-up. The only reason I'm posting these 4 is because they have already sold. But there are 5 other ones, which I'm not posting here tonight.
Does the first one look kind of familiar? It should. It's my dog Luke. The second one is my friend Chuck's dog, Maggie. I have no idea who the other dogs are.
The pop-up is tomorrow at Latitude 53 here in Edmonton. It runs from 10-4 both Saturday and Sunday. Hopefully you can squeeze it in to your long list of crafty things to visit this weekend. There are a lot. And they will all by busy. Good luck with parking and traffic and the like.
