"Melancholy flowers" acrylic on canvas board, 9" x 12" $108

Painting landscapes gives me terrible wanderlust. -Justina Smith

Todays painting is called "Melancholy flowers". On my trip to New Brunswick at the beginning of October, I had a stop over in Moncton while waiting to catch the bus to Halifax. I've spent a little time in Moncton, so I decided to go for a walk by the Petitcodiac River. Fall had just started showing off it's spectacular color out east, and the city flower beds hadn't yet been turned down. I spotted this lovely cluster of some kind of daisy, that was still blossoming a bit. I love the delicate stocks and large heads of these flowers...but I can't remember what they are called. It's been a while since my greenhouse days, and I find my plant knowledge to be terribly rusty. Thank goodness I have a house with a garden again, so I can brush up on my plant types and names!
